The next-generation access control system, Hedengren Access Management, offers top-notch security and excellent integration and scalability features. "In access control, the greatest new customer benefits arise from integrations," says Mikko Harjunen, Technical Product Manager at Hedengren Security.
According to Harjunen, the access control system, which is manufactured in Europe and openly integrable, aims to respond to changes in the operating environment and new customer needs.
"Increased cybercrime and geopolitical changes have significantly altered the security environment. At the same time, customers need to build increasingly comprehensive property and security solutions, which require new levels of integrability, agility, and scalability from the systems," Harjunen explains.
According to Harjunen, these phenomena have increased the demand for one hundred percent secure security systems manufactured domestically and in Europe, and have increased interest in manufacturer-independent systems that flexibly integrate with third-party applications.
"Hedengren Access Management meets this demand precisely. Its strengths are maximum security, open integrability, and unlimited scalability," says Harjunen.

Highly Secure and Easily Integrable
Harjunen considers the primary strength of Hedengren Access Management to be its maximum security. Thanks to unbroken end-to-end encryption, the system is also suitable for the highest security level operators and critical infrastructure sites, such as national defence, corrections, and the energy sector.
"The system is primarily sold as a SaaS service, but the same features also work as a local implementation. The implementation is extremely secure in both ways," Harjunen clarifies.
The second significant feature Harjunen highlights is openness. Hedengren Access Management enables very extensive and agile integrations with third-party applications, such as fire alarm, camera surveillance, parking, or room reservation systems. The system also naturally integrates with Hedengren Security's own systems, such as the HHL burglar alarm system for high-security sites. There are currently 130 different connection possibilities.
"In access control, the greatest new customer benefits arise from integrations. Systems that work seamlessly together and provide new types of information increase security and save time, as well as reduce manual work and the need for separate device acquisitions," says Harjunen.

Easy to Use and Scale
Harjunen considers the third most important feature of the system to be two things - scalability and ease of use. The modular system scales from a single-user solution to an access control system for a global organisation. According to the technical expert, the system is particularly well-suited for sites with many different properties and users, such as public sector sites or large office buildings and shopping centres.
"The small number of central devices and easy installability also increase the cost-effectiveness of the solution," Harjunen notes.
Harjunen sees the ease of use of Hedengren Access Management as being built around a clear and easily customisable user interface. Different views and access rights can be created for different users - and the browser-based interface can be used through a browser without software installations or special workstation requirements.
"With the user interface, the entire security environment - including keys, locks, access rights, users, and various auxiliary systems of the properties - can be combined into one easily manageable entity."
Utilises the Latest Technology
According to Harjunen, two expert entities are behind the next-generation system. The platform for Hedengren Access Management was designed by the Belgian company Synguard, which has been operating in the field for over 25 years and specialises in access control systems and high-level technology solutions. The Nordic representative of the system, developer of system integrations, and provider of technical support is the experienced Finnish security technology company Hedengren Security. The system is designed and all its components are manufactured in Europe.
"Synguard has brought the best technology expertise to system development, and we have brought strong customer understanding and comprehensive integration expertise," Harjunen describes.
The expert emphasises that the new system implements Hedengren Security's mission to offer customers the most long-term solutions possible.
"The new system will be sold alongside the Hedsam system. An interface is being developed to allow Hedsam users to easily transition to the modern platform when the change is timely for the customer. The interface will be completed in autumn 2025," says Harjunen.
The continuously evolving system also ensures that the customer always stays at the forefront of the industry in their access control. Hedengren Access Management supports numerous high-level identification technologies, and new generation readers, such as electromechanical and digital keys, can be used to open it.
"The features of the system are designed to meet the needs of a constantly changing operating environment, whether the changes concern technological development or legislative or internal organisational changes," Harjunen summarises.
