During the renovation of Riihimäki swimming hall, all its security and telecommunication systems were updated. It was important for the customer that the systems work well together and that the facility gets a sound system that can be used for various purposes such as safety announcements, listening to music, and guiding water exercises.
When the extensive renovation project of Riihimäki swimming hall started, one of the main goals was to modernize all the building's security and telecommunication systems. Equally important was to get a high-quality and easy-to-use sound system that could be used for evacuation alarms and guide announcements, as well as for listening to background music and guiding water exercises.
ESP Lahti Oy, which specializes in building technology contracting, maintenance, and upkeep, took overall responsibility for the electrical contracting of the swimming hall. The project manager for the contract was Viljami Paukku from ESP Lahti, who was responsible for material procurement, work management, and cooperation with various parties.
"In practice, all surfaces, building technology, and cabling of the 5,800 square meter property were completely renewed, and new security and telecommunication systems were acquired for the facility," Paukku explains.

All security systems from one place
The required system package consisted of fire alarm, burglary alarm, access control, sound system, and video surveillance systems. The customer's wish was that the systems work well together and that the package could be acquired as cost-effectively as possible. The humid spaces also imposed their own requirements on device choices. An additional criterion was the customer's wish for a customized sound system.
The choice ultimately fell on Hedengren Security. It was ensured with the customer and the design that the supplier's devices fully met the needs of the building and its users.
"We chose Hedengren Security because we got all the systems and partly also their implementations under one roof, which made the installation, maintenance, and use of the systems easier. Cost-effectiveness also had a significant impact," Paukku explains.

According to the project manager, the previous cooperation with the domestic system manufacturer also influenced the choice.
"We have successfully implemented several projects with Hedengren Security's systems. The quality has always been good, background support has been easily available, and deliveries have been handled with very fast delivery times," Paukku explains.
Versatile sound system
The versatility of the sound system had a significant impact on the system choice. The customer wanted a system suitable for evacuation alarms and safety announcements, which is controlled by a fire alarm and announcement devices.
"The system was also wanted to be used for listening to background music and guiding exercises through wireless microphones, for example in water aerobics. Hedengren's easy-to-use and highly scalable system was perfect for this," Paukku describes.

During the project's progress, the systems were carefully customized with the end customer and designers. According to the project manager, cooperation with Hedengren's experts went smoothly and deliveries were received on time.
"The installation process of the security systems went without major challenges. The implementations were completed on schedule, and there have been no problems with the systems even during the warranty period," Paukku praises.

Mikael Kurttila, the key account manager from Hedengren Security who was involved in the project, praises ESP Lahti Oy as an operator that handles even the most challenging projects with high professionalism.
"The swimming hall building with humid spaces is not the easiest target, but ESP handled the project with very strong expertise. The wishes of the end users were listened to carefully, and even the smallest details were polished according to the customer's wishes. Riihimäki city received a safe, user-friendly, and long-lasting solution for the challenging target implemented by them," Kurttila says.
